Panchakarma is the most important therapy in Ayurveda. It is the only most powerful healing therapy utilized in Ayurveda.

The body’s  natural healing mechanisms are awakened spontaneously to further improve health.

Panchakarma is literally translated as "the five actions", and is the ancient system of Ayurvedic rejuvenation therapies designed to facilitate the removal of deep-rooted stresses and impurities in the physiology. It is recommended on a seasonal basis to maintain and promote well being in healthy people and when needed to restore balance in those suffering with illness. Panchakarma cleansing begins with Ayurvedic consultation to design a treatment plan individually tailored to the needs of the client.

There are three phases of Panchakarma

  1. Purva Karma - preparatory techniques - light diet, internal and external oil therapy (Ayurvedic massage) and heat therapy
  2. Pradhan Karma - the main techniques for  elimination:
    • Virechana - medical purgation
    • Basti - herbal oil or decoct enema
    • Nasya - oil purification of the nose. According to Ayurveda, nose is the gates of the head.
  3. Praschat Karma - follow up techniques for rejuvenation of mind and body:
    • The Panchakarma treatment includes:
      1. Different types of full body massage with oil and herbs.
      2. Local oil procedures for different parts of the body (nose, ear,  eye)
      3. Oil based enema or other cleansing therapies appropriate to each person
      4. Steam therapy
      5. Vegetarian diet
      6. Yoga
